Hymn to Sleep
Hymn to Sleep
1
through a corridor to the holy dark,
on the winds of sleeping sentience,
rest sets the thoughts in flight,
toward the deeper wells of mind.
2
I say -
No more the mind above,
I go down, sailing within.
Dreaming I cross the deep.
Back toward the mouth of my emergence.
Going to rise out, again and again,
till all the hurts of the worlds are healed.
3
For-
the universe is of the mind-pattern itself,
Inside, both you and I appear.
Abandon the grasping that fears any loss.
Rest where all possibilities are near.
4
The absence dreamed a world,
The world dreamed life,
Life dreamed a body,
The body dreamed a person,
The person dreamed and died,
The dream then returned
to absence, as a memory,
To be brought to mind again
Rising, and falling anew
5
Gone, gone,
Gone beyond,
Gone beyond yet turning
As long as one still suffers and breathes,
I go beyond, yet turn.
