“The paraphernalia of ghosts has become somehow rather hackneyed, and when I hear of screams and skeletons I feel I am on familiar ground...No, the nightmares of one’s childhood were the really frightening things, because they were vague.
I have some experience with this sense of dread. It always involves an undefined element which takes on a kind of presence, and yes, just like in the story it leads to a kind of resolution in this waking world, with one caveate-it often contrasts to the dread, rather than directly participating in it, and even at times resolves it.
It was strange for lack of better words. I stopped practicing it. I prefer the sufi twirling meditation. It was like an out of body experience with a humming vibration, where with Sufi twirling it is more like being in between. I hope that makes sense. I could not "control" the astral projection and it would often happen to me without me willingly wanting to do so often when doing mundane chores or out and about. It kind of scared me actually. Which is why I think this post brought it to mind.
I see! That's exactly what I was trying to get at in the above; the experience of 'being', to use that word, includes what can be frightening as well as awesome and beautiful. There are certain practices I've read about which I wouldn't try because I know I'd probably terrify myself! The only one I do now is called Shikantaza ; basically just sitting and watching what appears in the mind. I think that people have their predispositions for certain things to work for them. So it's fantastic when you do find something, like the Sufi dervish that responds and opens things up without causing fear.
Very good point on not everything works for everyone, thank you. I have never tried Shikantaza but that sounds like a great form of meditation, like seeing with your third eye. For the last few days I have been in that in between place and it is quite calming. It has been a true blessing with all that is happening in the world today.
Oh I know. It's seems to be getting worse in this world. So spirit crushing. But things will change according to a power greater than all the armies and weapons of humanity. We're part of greater being, and we don't rule everything. Keep heart!🙏🙏✊❤️

I found this post to be particularly significant.
Thx.
Excellent! And thank you 🙏
This brings to mind when I practiced astral projection through meditation. Have you ever done this and what did you think?
Oh! I've never tried that, though I have heard of it. What was the experience like?
