The Nightmare
poem
Last night, I had a dream of pleasant memories, which quickly became a nightmare; I saw a nuclear explosion, and from high above, it’s horrifying aftermath….
Worse, I was the one who had ordered it.
THE NIGHTMARE
There seemed a corridor to run,
between the city ground and air,
with rays of memory, the sun,
a boundary lit with meaning there
***
For here, the lawn and house of birth,
light in the kitchen, grandma’s home,
appearing out a dawn, the Earth
within benighted lands unknown
***
- A call for war to heaven high!
upon an iron socle1 willed,
with all adoring, leaden I,
as Mars, appalling fire spilled
1
a plinth beneath a statue

Stunning!
What a vivid dream. What part of your life are you ready to go nuclear on? What needs to be cleared away?
