The general scientific and common sense paradigm for modern western thought consists in the assumption of two distinct realms of experience; the so called objective world and subjective consciousness.
That's right. Many philosophies involve elements which combine (or could be regarded as combining) them. Plato could be read back as a realist and an idealist. What Heidegger would caution though is that reading back in that way would be misleading and would cover over the originary vision.
